King Fahd District Riyadh: Boundaries, Two Metro Stations and Daily Life in the District

Last updated: · By the Al Rossais team

Quick answer: King Fahd District is a residential and commercial district in the older part of north Riyadh, formerly under Al Olaya Municipality, covering about 4.8 km². It is bounded by King Fahd Road to the west, King Abdulaziz Road to the east, Imam Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Road to the north and King Abdullah Road to the south, and two Blue Line metro stations serve it along Olaya Street.

You may also see it written as King Fahad District or Al Malik Fahd (حي الملك فهد). All three names refer to the same Riyadh district.

People look up King Fahd District for two reasons: it sits between four of Riyadh's main roads, and it has two metro stations of its own on Olaya Street. This guide brings together what to know before moving here or buying here: the official boundaries, the districts around it, schools, healthcare and parks, and what to check before signing a lease.

Four Major Roads Frame the District: Boundaries and Neighbours

The district lies in the older part of north Riyadh and was administered by Al Olaya Municipality. In October 2025 the Riyadh Region Municipality replaced its 16 sub-municipalities with five sectors (North, Central, East, West and South), served by "Madinati" offices. Olaya Street runs through it from north to south, and that is where most shops, offices and both metro stations are found. If you are also comparing homes in neighbouring Olaya, see our apartments for rent in Olaya.

That makes eight districts in total: four along its sides, separated from it by the main roads, and four at its corners. For the wider picture, see our guide to North Riyadh neighborhoods.

Inner Streets and Landmarks That Shape the Area

Besides Olaya Street, the district is connected by streets including Hisham bin Abdulmalik, Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz, Al Mughirah bin Shu'bah and Sheikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim bin Jubair. Riyadh Gallery Mall is inside the district, and the area is also home to Marina Mall, the embassies of Romania and Niger, and the Association for Disabled Children. The mix explains its character: villas and residential floors on the inner streets, with shops and offices on the roads around it.

Two Blue Line Stations: Getting Around by Riyadh Metro

When people search for the King Fahad District metro station, they often do not realise there are two of them. Both sit on Line 1 (Blue), which runs along Olaya Street, and they are consecutive stops inside the district. Most published guides to the area leave the metro out entirely.

King Fahad District Metro Station

This is the northern of the two stops. KAFD is two stops away (Al Muruj, then KAFD), where you can change to Lines 4 and 6, which makes it a practical stop for people who work in the financial district.

King Fahad District 2 Metro Station

This is the southern stop. The very next station is STC, where the Blue Line meets the Red Line running along King Abdullah Road, so residents in the southern half of the district can reach east and west Riyadh with a single change.

Schools, Healthcare and Green Space Within the District

Schools From Kindergarten to Secondary

Schools here cover every stage for boys and girls, in both the government and private sectors:

GroupWhat the district offers
Boys11 government and private schools at primary, intermediate and secondary level, including a private Quran memorisation primary school
GirlsGovernment schools at all three stages, including Primary School 261, and Al Imaar private Quran schools
Private educationAl Enaya private schools at every stage
KindergartenA government kindergarten, Al Enaya's kindergarten section and a private comprehensive kindergarten

Tip: schools and their catchment can change from year to year. Confirm the school and its admission area through the Noor system or the local education office before choosing a home around it.

Primary Healthcare and Private Clinics

The district has a government primary healthcare centre, booked through the Sehhaty app, as well as a girls' health centre run by the Ministry of Education. On the private side there are clinics and medical centres such as Majed Al Mutlaq Clinics and Ajyal Medical Center, with pharmacies along the main streets.

King Fahd District Park and Smaller Gardens

Alongside King Fahd District Park, residents have Al Maram Park, Al Fajr Park and gardens beside the Zaid bin Haritha and Ali bin Abi Talib mosques. These are neighbourhood-scale parks, suited to daily walks and children's play rather than large city parks.

Housing in the District: Villas, Floors and Apartment Buildings

Villas dominate the inner streets, alongside apartment buildings and independent floors, while commercial and office buildings line Olaya Street and the boundary roads. That is why living here can feel very different on a quiet inner street than in a building facing a main road.

Renting an Apartment or Floor Here

Renters mostly find two options: apartments in residential buildings, and independent floors inside villas that suit families wanting more space. We do not quote an average rent, because the figures circulating online do not name a source; the more reliable reference is the documented contracts and rental indicators on the Ejar platform. Buying a Villa: What to Verify

Before making an offer on a villa here, check the title deed, the build year and the actual area against the registered area, and review completed deals in the district on the Ministry of Justice Real Estate Exchange. The full process is in our guide to buying a house in Riyadh.

Check the Broker's FAL Licence First

Before dealing with any real estate office, ask for the broker's FAL licence number and verify it with the Real Estate General Authority, and do not pay a deposit until the terms are clear. Our guide to real estate brokerage contracts explains what the agreement should cover.

For transparency: Al Rossais does not currently own buildings inside this district. The units shown in the cards below are in other Riyadh districts.
